The kind of textbooks we wished to have as children.

This project is very close to my heart. From the hilly romantic capital of Sikkim, India, situated at 2800m, a talented and hard working team of illustrators and designers - in collaboration with the government, teachers and Azim Premji Foundation - started a revolution.

First of its’ kind, the SCERT textbooks were re-created to include cultural context, new learning methods, resources that attempt to prevent the loss of indigenous knowledge and more. The books have now been in use for 3 years and are soon going to be assessed to analyse whether they really made a difference. The project was 3 years in the making.
